Bamako – The Malian army announced that its forces dismantled two bases belonging to armed groups in the Baoulé and Soussan forests during simultaneous special operations in the area. According to a military statement, troops discovered a training camp and logistical equipment left behind by fighters, who fled the targeted sites as the attacks began. Several motorcycles and other equipment were abandoned. The army did not report casualties or identify the groups involved.
The statement added that security forces continued to sweep the area for several days to prevent militants from returning and to strengthen control in those regions. Mali has seen more than a decade of growing violence by armed groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS, particularly in central and northern areas, despite ongoing military operations by government forces to restore stability and pursue militants.
