Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh met on Saturday with 62 members of the country’s House of Representatives whom voiced their support for the premier to remain in power “for two years or until elections are held,” according to a joint statement by the MPs.
The lawmakers stated that they want Dbeibeh to be given “the freedom to make cabinet reshuffles provided that all electoral districts are represented”.
They also proposed that Turkey, Egypt, the UAE and Qatar mediate an agreement between the government and parliament.
It is noteworthy that Dbeibeh’s meeting with the MPs comes ahead of a parliamentary session on Monday during which lawmakers would discuss creating a political roadmap for the country, including the possibility of forming a new government.
