Mahmoud Abdulaziz discussed political developments and protests in Tripoli. He stated that elections and a constitution are required. Abdulaziz declared, “We want elections and a constitution.” He added, “Speaker Aguila Saleh and Field Marshal Haftar, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, must leave.” He continued, “After they leave, we guarantee Dbeibah will also depart.” These remarks were made during the program “Between the Lines.” The show airs on Al-Tanasuh channel, which is affiliated with the discredited Mufti Al-Ghariyani. Al-Marsad newspaper monitored the broadcast.
Abdulaziz, who serves as the Dbeibah government’s ambassador to Turkmenistan, accused opponents of moving to “Plan B.” He said, “After failing to secure authorization, they shifted to Plan B.” This plan involves “causing problems in Tripoli.” He claimed, “They went out at night, created a disturbance, set fires, and declared their intent to overthrow the Dbeibah government.”
He added, “The Dbeibah government is not good. However, we will not demand its removal unless one condition is met.” That condition is “for similar protests to emerge in the eastern region.” These protests must demand “the overthrow of the Parliament and Haftar.” Abdulaziz vowed, “If that happens, I will lead demonstrations to oust Dbeibah.”
Abdulaziz continued, “If Dbeibah wants to exit the scene today, what is the alternative?” He questioned, “Is it the Hammad government, which Parliament gave confidence to?”
Commenting on the protest scenes in Tripoli, which demand the overthrow of the Dbeibah government, he said: “Protest videos showed garbage, tires, and chants against the unity government.” He asserted, “I bear witness that you are Qaddafi’s generation.” Abdulaziz declared, “We swear by God this did not happen in February.” He asked, “Did anyone empty garbage trucks in February?”
He indicated that the pages promoting the protests are what he described as “Al-Karama and Al-Khadra pages.” He added that they wrote about demonstrations in “Green Square.” Abdulaziz claimed, “Haftar is known for his authoritarian project and a return to dictatorship.” He further asserted, “We see that in the entire eastern region of Cyrenaica, no one can speak.”
Abdulaziz clarified, “Yes, there is corruption, and we will not remain silent. The Attorney General and his office are also involved.” He stated, “Anyone with corruption files should bring them to ‘Between the Lines’ and to the Attorney General, and we will expose them.” He challenged, “But to hold protests and shout ‘freedom!’ Yes, it is freedom, and I agree with you.” He concluded, “But then go protest in the eastern region!”
He concluded by saying, “Today, do you want to make a fool of us? No, a thousand times no.” He insisted, “People are aware and clear-headed. They came out in the dozens, and everyone mocked them.” He extended greetings “to all understanding and aware people who disliked this absurdity.”
