Journalist and head of the Libyan Media Corporation in the Libyan government, Mohamed Bayou, launched a fierce attack on the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, and his family, accusing them of spending billions of dinars and dollars to buy the loyalty of militias and protect their power in Tripoli.
Bayou wrote in a post on his Facebook page that the state of mobilization and continuous deployment for the past 120 days, led by Ibrahim Dbeibeh on behalf of his father, costs more than 100 million dinars daily. He explained that local and international estimates indicate that total spending has exceeded 5 billion dinars and 3 billion dollars on buying loyalties, financing betrayals and coups, purchasing ammunition and drones, in addition to recruiting agents at home and abroad.
Bayou indicated that the drying up of funding sources might push Ali Dbeibeh, whom he described as the “grand godfather,” to sell his real estate and financial assets abroad to cope with this financial hemorrhage, warning that their loss of power is imminent.
Bayou gave direct advice to Ali Dbeibeh, saying: “I advise you, as your uncle, in your final days, to repent to Allah and stop this rampant evil. Perhaps repentance will alleviate some of your torment.” He cited a Quranic verse about the punishment for intentionally killing a believer, warning that continuing on this path could lead to the deaths of thousands from Tripoli and Misrata in a war he described as criminal, the consequences of which will be disastrous for the Dbeibehs.
Bayou concluded his post by emphasizing that his advice comes “as an absolution before Allah and to clear my conscience,” adding that the Dbeibeh family does not accept advice, considering them “among the arrogant,” in his words.
