The Director of Security of Greater Benghazi, Major General Salah Huwaidi, gave an official statement today, Wednesday, in the presence of the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Major General Ahmed Al-Shamekh, regarding the painful incident involving the death of a citizen and his seven children in the city of Benghazi.
Major General Huwaidi confirmed that the preliminary investigations conducted by the competent security authorities suggest that the citizen, Hassan Al-Mabrouk, killed his seven children before committing suicide inside his private vehicle.
He explained that the security services found the weapon used in the incident inside the car, which reinforces the murder-suicide hypothesis, according to the evidence and information available so far.
The Security Director pointed out that the Public Prosecution is currently handling the case and is expected to issue an official statement later clarifying the full details of the incident and its possible causes, after the completion of the investigation and forensic analysis procedures.
