Addis Ababa – The 35th Summit of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Forum of Heads of State and Government began today, Friday. It is being held at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa.
The APRM is tasked with examining issues. These issues relate to enhancing good governance, peace, and security. They also address integration among African countries. The mechanism aims to intensify effective African action.
This session’s agenda covers five key areas for the African Peer Review Mechanism. These include democracy and political governance. Economic governance and management are also on the agenda. Corporate governance is another focus. Social and economic development will be discussed. Finally, state resilience in the face of shocks and disasters will be addressed.
Participants will study voluntary national assessment reports from several countries. They will discuss progress made in implementing previous recommendations. Additionally, they will explore ways to enhance the mechanism’s effectiveness. They will also seek to expand member states’ involvement.
They will also discuss current challenges facing the continent. These include peace and security issues. Sustainable development will also be a topic. Funding for reform programs is another key area.
