On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies announced the completion of a vital project at Station (71) in Benghazi. The project was fully supported by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, supervised by the Ministry, and monitored by the committees specialized in the electricity crisis.
The Ministry clarified that technical teams from the Benghazi Plain Distribution Administration, with support from national electrical, construction, and consulting companies, completed the load transfer operation within the station. Previously, the load had reached approximately 20 mega-volt-amperes (MVA), posing a risk to the main transformer and leading to daily load shedding of up to 3 MVA.
It added that the project helped balance and distribute loads equitably, which has ended the daily load shedding issue and brought greater stability to the power supply for residents in areas served by the station.
