The Head of the Information, Culture, and Civil Society Institutions Committee of the House of Representatives, Jalal Al-Shuwaidi, held a meeting on Thursday with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil Society Commission, Mahmoud Al-Barasi. The meeting took place at the House of Representatives headquarters in the city of Benghazi, and was attended by the Commission’s Executive Director, Ibrahim Al-Maqsabi, and the committee’s legal advisor, Aladdin Al-Qamati.
Briefing on the Commission’s Situation
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission’s Board of Directors provided a comprehensive briefing on the current situation of the Commission since its board was reconstituted by the government, explaining the most prominent challenges and existing programs.
Discussion of the Organizations Draft Law
The latest developments concerning the draft law for civil society organizations before the House of Representatives were also addressed, along with a discussion on ways to issue new legislation that enhances the role of civil society institutions and supports their activities.
