Benghazi – The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) has confirmed the completion of comprehensive maintenance on the K2 gas compressor and engine at Station (6) in the Nafoora oil field, which has helped increase the readiness of the compression system and enhance the reliability of vital equipment for the continuation of oil production.
The company’s Media Office Director, Ahmed Al-Oraibi, explained to the Libyan News Agency that the technical teams restarted the engine and gas compressor on November 19, 2025, after implementing an integrated three-month maintenance program. This included replacing spare parts, as well as disassembly and reassembly work, in accordance with approved operational standards to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Al-Oraibi pointed out that the Nafoora field currently produces about 35,000 barrels of oil per day. The production is pumped through a 30-inch pipeline to the Ras Lanuf port and another 24-inch pipeline towards the Intisar field, and from there to the Zueitina port. He stressed that any malfunction in the compression systems could affect the flow of production to these vital ports.
He added that the remaining reserves in the field are estimated at about 42% of the total recoverable reserves by conventional means, making the maintenance of operational readiness for the equipment a key factor for long-term production sustainability.
Al-Oraibi also praised the reliance on qualified national personnel to carry out the maintenance work, which contributed to completing the project on schedule and with high efficiency.
In conclusion, he affirmed the company’s continued support for its technical teams to ensure the highest levels of reliability at all its operational sites.
