Ghat – Mayor Ahmed Al-Souqi confirmed the receipt of a replacement electrical transformer. It arrived from the warehouses of the Fund for Development and Reconstruction of Libya in Sabha. The delivery faced a two-day delay. This was due to transport procedures and the long distance between the two cities.
Al-Souqi told the Libyan News Agency that the transformer was received today. He noted the distance between Sabha and Ghat is about 600 kilometers. This distance caused the delay in its arrival. The transformer is expected to reach Ghat tomorrow. It will be installed immediately. This installation will end the suffering of Al-Zuhour district residents. They have been without power for several days due to the fault.
Al-Souqi stressed the importance of Ministry of Electricity support for Ghat’s distribution department. This support would enable comprehensive maintenance of the electrical network and transformers. This should be completed before summer. It would prevent new malfunctions. He added that the department faces a severe lack of resources. Work is currently done through personal efforts. No service vehicle is available. Workers use their private cars. They also lack basic daily maintenance equipment.
The Mayor thanked the Director-General of the Fund for Development and Reconstruction of Libya. He appreciated his cooperation and support. He emphasized the need for technical support for the department. This will ensure stable electricity. It will also improve service levels for citizens.
Al-Souqi affirmed the new transformer’s installation will restore normal electricity. This benefits Al-Zuhour district residents. It will also enhance the stability of Ghat municipality’s electrical network.
