Expanded meeting in Wadi Al-Shati Municipality to regulate the work of quarries

Wadi al-Shati – Major General Wahbi Al-Rakh chaired an expanded meeting on Sunday. Al-Rakh is the Director of Shati Security and head of the Joint Security Chamber. The meeting took place in the Wadi al-Shati municipality.

Attendees included assistant security directors, the Shati intelligence director, and the State Property Office director. The director of the Labor and Rehabilitation Office also attended. Representatives from the electricity company and the Heavy Transport Syndicate were present. Members of the Al-Qardah Municipal Council and companies operating the Jabal al-Kaf quarries also participated.

The Wadi al-Shati Security Directorate explained the meeting was held due to citizen complaints. Residents of the Jabal al-Kaf area had called for reorganizing work at the quarries in Al-Qardah.

The Directorate noted that Major General Al-Rakh had previously conducted a field tour. He assessed the conditions at the quarries and found several violations that required correction.

The meeting involved extensive discussions on adhering to laws regulating quarry operations. This includes organizing truck movement according to public safety standards. It also involves managing residency procedures for foreign workers. The handling of explosives must be supervised by the Military Intelligence Department.

The talks also covered legalizing quarry operation contracts with the Public Property Authority. Licenses must be issued by the Economic Inspectorate and all required taxes must be paid. Additionally, they discussed coordinating with the electricity company to install prepaid meters at the sites.

Major General Al-Rakh stressed the importance of organizing procedures with the Labor and Rehabilitation Office. He called for regulating truck entry and exit according to the Heavy Transport Syndicate’s rules. He also emphasized coordinating with the Mining Corporation to establish a joint working mechanism. This includes activating all regulatory bodies and conducting periodic inspections according to the law.
