Benghazi – The Libyan News Agency hosted a discussion session on Sunday evening. The event was organized by the Libyan Sports Media Association’s Benghazi branch.
The session discussed building a mature and responsible sports media culture. It featured an open dialogue with media professionals, coaches, and players. They explored the relationship between the sports system and the media and ways to improve it.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, sports journalist Naji Hilal stressed the need to restore a culture of dialogue and responsibility in sports. He noted that the current phase requires more openness between media and sports figures. This ensures a balance between free expression and professional standards.
He explained that developing sports media starts with better communication. This includes channels between journalists, coaches, and players. Media work must adhere to professional standards to prevent misinformation. This also reduces the spread of rumors. Hilal stated that avoiding confrontation serves no one. It leads to the public having a distorted understanding of events.
He added that improving the sports scene requires training and educational programs. These help players and coaches understand the media’s role. They also enable journalists to perform their duties more professionally. He noted that speaking out courageously and responsibly builds trust. It also presents a realistic picture of Libyan sports.
Hilal reiterated the importance of building effective partnerships between media and sports institutions. He called for linking efforts through joint action plans. This would strengthen sports media as a platform for development and transparency in all sports.
