Paris – General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, arrived in the French capital, Paris, following an official invitation. During the visit, he held a formal meeting at the Élysée Palace with General Vincent Guiraud, Chief of the Military Staff of the French President, and Mr. Paul Soler, the Special Envoy of President Emmanuel Macron.
During the meeting, General Saddam Haftar conveyed the greetings of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, to His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, expressing his and the accompanying delegation’s appreciation for the warm reception.
General Saddam Haftar commended France’s prominent role in counter-terrorism efforts, praising the level of cooperation established between the French Republic and the Libyan Armed Forces over the past years. He noted that this partnership has yielded positive and fruitful results in supporting Libya’s stability and addressing various security threats.
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief emphasized the General Command’s commitment to developing and strengthening bilateral relations with France across all levels—particularly in training, capacity building, military development, and the exchange of expertise—to serve the mutual interests of both nations. He further stressed that supporting international efforts to ensure Libya’s stability, unity, and sovereignty remains a top priority.
The two sides also discussed the latest local, regional, and international developments, exchanging views on current security challenges. Both parties reaffirmed the necessity of continued joint consultation and coordination, specifically in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime, to bolster security and stability on both regional and international scales.
