Ghaat Launches a Multi-Stage Awareness Program to Empower Women Legally and Administratively

The Office for Women’s Support and Empowerment at the Ghat Municipal Council announced a comprehensive awareness program. It will be implemented in several phases. The program targets women’s groups and various government sectors. Its aim is to enhance legal and rights awareness. It also seeks to raise the efficiency of job performance within public institutions.

Jamilah Fadhel Hanini, Director of the Women’s Support and Empowerment Office at the Ghat Municipal Council, confirmed this in a statement to the Libyan News Agency. She stated the program is organized under the office’s supervision. It is coordinated with the Municipal Council’s Human Resources Department. It focuses on legal and administrative aspects of employment. This includes the rights of both female and male employees. It also covers mechanisms to ensure these rights according to approved laws.

Hanini explained the program’s themes. They include employment settlements, releases, and promotions. It also introduces labor and administrative law. This aims to establish a clear legal culture within institutions. It ensures job justice. It also improves the work environment.

She added that the program will continue through successive awareness sessions. It targets most government sectors in Ghat municipality. This is part of the 2026 work plan. The plan aims to legally and socially support women. It empowers them to understand and obtain their rights. This covers employment laws. It also includes social life laws like marriage and divorce. Future phases will expand to include inheritance law.

She noted the program is implemented in cooperation with consultant Dr. Jaziyah Mustafa Issa. It includes organizing field sessions. One session is specifically for female employees of the Ghat Municipal Council. Another is for medical and paramedical staff at Ghat General Hospital. A dedicated session for women and girls is also held at the Ghat Women’s Union headquarters.

Hanini also revealed the opening of legal consultation services. These relate to labor and marriage laws. She affirmed the office will provide necessary legal guidance and explanations. It will help establish practical mechanisms. These will assist women in obtaining their rights, both within and outside Ghat municipality.

Hanini concluded her statements by confirming a new phase of awareness sessions. These will launch next February. They will target laws regulating company operations. Examples include cleaning, water, and postal companies. This is part of a comprehensive vision. It aims to promote legal culture and women’s empowerment. It also seeks to build effective institutional partnerships within the community.
