Tripoli – The Food and Drug Control Center, in cooperation with the Municipal Guard, carried out intensive inspection tours covering a number of health and food establishments in Hay Al-Andalus, Zliten, and the Al-Draibi area, which resulted in the identification of serious health and environmental violations and the taking of immediate legal action.
In Hay Al-Andalus, the medical laboratories inspection committee of the Tripoli branch targeted a number of laboratories in the Hay Al-Andalus municipality, where several violations were recorded, including: the presence of expired operational materials, poor condition of refrigerators in terms of cleanliness and organization, expired health certificates and practice permits, inadequate ventilation, and the presence of uncalibrated equipment and materials of unknown origin.
Necessary legal measures have been taken against the violators to ensure these transgressions are not repeated.
In the city of Zliten, the Center’s inspectors conducted an extensive tour targeting a number of restaurants, which resulted in the uncovering of violations related to health requirements and food quality. A number of restaurants were closed with red wax seals, and legal action was taken against their owners.
In the Al-Draibi area, the meat and slaughterhouse inspection committee conducted inspection tours of butcher shops, and the following violations were recorded: displaying meat outside refrigerators, mixing red and white meat inside refrigerators, the presence of processed meat of unknown origin (Merguez sausage), and the use of worn-out plastic cutting boards.
The Food and Drug Control Center affirmed that these campaigns are part of its ongoing efforts to ensure consumer safety and protect public health, with field tours continuing in various regions.
