Sabha – Libyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Ahmed Houma, on Monday discussed with the Director of the Sabha Maternity Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Abuzayan, the hospital’s urgent needs and the difficulties hindering its medical operations.
During the meeting, held in his office at the Fezzan Palace Conference Hall and attended by the Head of the Technical Advisory Committee, Dr. Ismail Al-Sharif, Houma addressed the shortage of some medical supplies and equipment, in addition to challenges related to medical and service personnel.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, Houma affirmed the Libyan government’s commitment to supporting health facilities in the south, noting that improving medical services is a priority in the government’s plans to enhance living conditions and meet citizens’ needs.
The meeting reviewed a detailed report on the hospital’s performance since its opening a year ago, under the supervision and patronage of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund. The report included operational rates, the medical services provided, and the developments the hospital has witnessed over the past period.
The meeting also discussed ways to support the hospital and expand its services to enhance the level of healthcare provided to the residents of the southern region, and to ensure that operations continue with quality and efficiency.
