The First National Forum for Tuberculosis Control in Libya launched saturday. It was held in Tripoli. The forum’s slogan was “Towards an Integrated National System and Multi-Sectoral Response.” Its aim was to strengthen national efforts. It also sought to unify visions among partners. This supports the National Tuberculosis Control Program.
Dr. Haider Al-Sayeh, Director General of the National TB Center, attended the forum. Managers of TB monitoring units from national center branches participated. Representatives from public hospitals across Libya also took part. Representatives from national, health, and research institutions joined. Civil society organizations were present. A selection of specialized experts participated. Local and international partners also attended. They emphasized strengthening joint cooperation. This aims to ensure a society free from tuberculosis.
The forum’s objectives included enhancing national efforts to combat tuberculosis. It aimed to unify partner visions to support the National TB Program. Another goal was to transition from fragmented efforts. This would create an integrated, multi-sectoral system. The forum concluded with dialogue sessions. These focused on improving patient access to diagnosis and treatment services. They also aimed to develop health education programs. Data quality improvement was a key topic. A joint action plan for the next phase was established. The National Center appreciates the participation of all entities and sectors. It affirmed its commitment to adopting necessary reforms. These reforms will improve national indicators in TB control. They will also achieve a disease-free society.
