Sirte – The theft of electrical cables and wires caused a power outage. This affected several homes in the Al-Nabiliya agricultural area. Al-Nabiliya is located west of Sirte. The western line at Station No. 91 was targeted in a sabotage operation.
Engineer Abdul Hamid Haiblo spoke to Al-Anbaa Al-Libya newspaper. He is the Director of Sirte Distribution Management at the General Electricity Company. Haiblo confirmed an outlaw group stole over 400 meters of cables and wires. This length is equivalent to three electricity poles. The theft caused the line to go out of service. Power was cut off from the entire area. Haiblo explained that electrical cable theft is now a recurring phenomenon.
It happens noticeably often. This causes severe damage to the general network. It also negatively affects service stability. Haiblo renewed his call to the competent authorities. He urged them to take deterrent measures. This will stop these attacks and acts of sabotage. Such acts target the electricity sector’s infrastructure.
