Tripoli – Naji Muhammad Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, held an extensive meeting on Wednesday. He met with the general managers of commercial banks. Directors of relevant Central Bank departments were also present. The meeting addressed cash liquidity levels and upcoming distribution plans. They also discussed the progress of electronic payments.
During the meeting, the governor announced a new distribution. Four billion dinars will be sent to commercial banks this week. The banks will then supply their branches across all regions. He confirmed that cash will be available in all branches starting next week. This is to meet citizens’ needs without delay. The governor directed banks to extend their working hours. He also instructed them to keep ATMs refilled around the clock.
The governor stressed the need for discipline during distribution. He called for clear procedures to ensure cash reaches all regions fairly. He stated that he would personally monitor the process. This will guarantee its optimal implementation.
He also urged commercial banks to promote electronic payment methods. They were asked to expand their digital services. This will help achieve a digital transformation and improve infrastructure. The goal is to reduce pressure on cash withdrawals and enhance banking services.
Attendees affirmed their commitment to implementing these directives. They pledged to improve banking efficiency to ensure stable services and meet public needs.
