Tripoli – The Criminal Research and Training Center signed a technical cooperation agreement yesterday, Tuesday. The center is affiliated with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The agreement was with Expertise France. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation coordinated the signing. The French Republic’s mission to Libya provided participation and support.
The Public Prosecutor, who also serves as the Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, attended the signing ceremony. Public prosecutors from appellate courts were present. Judicial staff from the Public Prosecutor’s Office also attended.
The Public Prosecutor delivered a speech. He emphasized the Public Prosecution Office’s pivotal role in the criminal justice system. He highlighted its societal responsibility. This includes preventing and combating organized crime. It also involves dismantling criminal networks. The office must enhance responses to emerging challenges. These challenges stem from developments in the criminal ecosystem. They also impact stability, security, the economy, and development.
Al-Sour explained the Public Prosecution Office’s vision. This vision involves establishing the center as a developmental and upgrading arm. It serves both the Office and the criminal justice chain. The center will continue implementing its five-year strategic plan. Its policy aims to sustain and improve judicial and legal services. This is achieved by acquiring modern institutional tools. It also involves diversifying sources for continuous professional development. This enhances the capacity to provide quality educational expertise. These services are for active parties in justice and law enforcement.
Al-Sour affirmed that investing in training skills is crucial. It is key to enhancing institutional growth and efficiency. This is achieved by benefiting from best practices. It also involves drawing lessons from comparative experiences. Cooperation and participation with national and international bodies are vital. This includes organizing international technical support programs. It extends to their projects and activities, including their management and implementation.
The first technical international cooperation document was signed. It is between the Center and Expertise France. The signing occurred during the inauguration ceremony. This was for the International Public Prosecution Book Fair. Its inaugural edition opened on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
