Taraghen – Ahmed Hussein is the Agriculture Sector Coordinator in Taraghen Municipality. He announced the availability of modern olive harvesting machines. These machines are offered at a subsidized price. This initiative supports farmers in the southern region. It also assists owners of small agricultural projects.
This is part of the Libyan government’s broader support. Hussein made this statement to the Libyan News Agency. This initiative receives direct government support. The government covers 60% of the olive harvesting machine’s value. The project is in cooperation with Sebha Export Development. The actual price of the machine is about 4000 Libyan dinars. The state covers 60% of this cost. Farmers are only required to pay 40% of its value. This support targets olive farmers in the southern region.
These machines are costly. Small project owners often cannot afford them. The state decided to provide these machines. This will ease harvesting operations. It will also reduce the effort and time needed for collection. Hussein confirmed the machines will improve olive harvesting efficiency. They will also enhance production quality. The next phase will involve providing special equipment.
These tools will be for preserving olive oil. They will also be for packaging olive fruits. This supports the agricultural production chain. It aims to boost the crop’s economic value.
