“A very powerful message was delivered in Berlin about the need for elections to proceed on schedule, as outlined by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) on December 24,” said U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, at the inauguration ceremony of the High National Elections Commission’s (HNEC) media center on July 4th.
“There’s a palpable sense of momentum now that is building, and what is happening today in Tripoli, with the work that the HNEC is doing, is now taking this a step closer to operationalizing, and bringing this momentum into practical existence,” Norland stated.
The media center is going to be an essential component of the transparency and accountability that’s required to make these elections credible, the Ambassador added.
