Members of Libya’s House of Representatives will “soon” join the UN-facilitated talks in Tunis to decide on constitutional basis for the elections with members of the High Council of State (HCS), said UN Advisor on Libya Stephanie Williams on Friday.
On Thursday, the HCS members and UN moderators concluded a three-day consultative meeting, which was also “attended by representatives of the diplomatic community in Libya,” Williams said via Twitter.
The diplomatic representatives “reiterated their support for the UN initiative and engaged with the HCS representatives on their ideas pertaining to the constitutional basis,” Williams added before thanking the HCS for its “constructive engagement”.
“I am confident that their colleagues in the HoR will soon come to the table,” said the UN advisor. “The door for UN-facilitated negotiations is always open.”
