Mussa Al-Koni, a member of Libya’s Presidential Council, implicitly confirmed recent press reports that the council is planning to introduce a scheme for elections delay, as he took to Twitter to publicly distance himself from the proposal.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) urged the Libyan House of Representatives to adopt “the necessary adjustments, including those put forward by the High National Commission for Elections (HNEC), to enable the holding of free, fair, inclusive, and credible parliamentary and presidential elections simultaneously on 24 December”.
President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, and the Vise-President, Abdulla al-Lafi, are preparing to announce an initiative to postpone the elections scheduled for Dec 24 to March 2022, according to al-Marsad newspaer.
