Detention of accused in a case of spreading indecency via social media

Ajdabiya – The Ajdabiya Primary Public Prosecution has ordered the pre-trial detention of three suspects. They are being held pending investigation. The case involves spreading obscenity among children. This was done by exploiting social media platforms and applications. The Public Prosecutor’s office announced this in an official statement today, Saturday.

The statement clarified that the three defendants persisted in their criminal acts. They showed no regard for religious values or legal constraints. They used digital platforms to contact and lure children. They requested illegal practices. The prosecution described this behavior as dangerous. It affects community safety.

The Public Prosecutor’s office noted that the Ajdabiya Security Directorate apprehended the suspects. This followed tracking and field investigations. They were then referred to the Ajdabiya Primary Public Prosecution. They were interrogated according to established legal procedures. A decision was made to detain them pending the completion of investigations.

The statement added that security agencies and the Public Prosecution seized electronic devices. These devices, including phones and computers, were used by the defendants. They will be examined for technical content. Digital evidence will be extracted. This may reveal additional details related to the case.

These developments come about two weeks after initial details of the incident emerged. On April 11, human rights activist Sahar Banoun called for a comprehensive investigation. The investigation concerned harassment and assault of minors in Ajdabiya. She indicated that security agencies had received initial complaints about the incident.

According to reports at the time, Banoun stated the suspects belonged to a three-person network. Preliminary investigations revealed visual material on one device. This material related to assaults on minor girls. This prompted urgent action from security authorities.

Security sources previously confirmed the suspects were apprehended. They were interrogated. They were then referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation. This aims to precisely follow up on the case. It ensures all surrounding circumstances are uncovered.

The Public Prosecution continues its investigations into the case. It affirmed that deterrent legal measures will be taken. These measures will apply to anyone proven to be involved. This ensures the protection of children. It safeguards society from such crimes.
