Emergency room and international contract to contain the threat of the Russian tanker off Libya

The National Oil Corporation has signed an emergency contract. It is with an international company. This is to address the threat of a Russian tanker. The tanker is off the Libyan coast.

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) signed the contract through Mellitah Oil & Gas. They collaborated with their strategic partner Eni. The international company specializes in handling incidents affecting tankers and offshore oil platforms. It also handles similar vessels. Such incidents can result in oil spills into the sea.

This emergency contract was signed after the tanker approached the Libyan coast.

According to the NOC’s media office, this urgent agreement addresses a Russian tanker. The tanker sustained damage off the Libyan coast recently. This caused it to lose control. It is carrying a cargo of liquefied natural gas. Swift action was taken to reduce pollution risks.

The NOC explained the damaged vessel is nearing the Libyan coast. This is due to wind and wave action. Urgent measures were required. This will mitigate potential harm within territorial waters. It will also reduce pollution risks to Libyan shores. The safety of oil installations was confirmed.

The NOC affirmed that this environmental threat is largely manageable. All Libyan oil installations are safe. This includes platforms and ports. They are secure from any pollution or risks associated with the incident.

An emergency room was established. Direct monitoring is in place.

The NOC formed an emergency room. Its purpose is to coordinate all related operations. The NOC Chairman directly monitors these efforts. Coordination is also maintained with relevant state authorities.
