Head of the Immigration Control Agency examines the conditions of the Filipino community

Benghazi – Major General Salah Mahmoud Al-Khafifi received a delegation. Al-Khafifi heads the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration. The meeting took place today, Thursday. It was held at the agency’s headquarters in Benghazi. The delegation was led by Rodrigo Atienza, the Chargé d’affaires. Atienza is also the representative of the Philippines in Libya. An official delegation accompanied him.

The delegation included Leandro Manantantan, the Consul General of the Philippines. Doris, head of the Filipino community, was also present. Ayman Al-Wafi, the embassy’s legal advisor, attended. Mohammed Al-Sharif, a general protocol representative, was there. Haitham Al-Kayeb represented the Asia and Australia Department. He is from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

An extensive official meeting was held during the visit. It involved the agency head and the visiting delegation. They discussed several files of mutual interest. A key topic was the status of the Filipino community in Libya. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation and coordination. This aims to address migration-related issues. Solutions must adhere to approved legal and humanitarian frameworks.

The meeting also addressed mechanisms for boosting bilateral cooperation. This includes information exchange and institutional coordination. Such cooperation contributes to preserving human dignity. It reinforces principles of mutual respect. It ensures commitment to national laws. Relevant international charters and agreements on migration were discussed. Foreign labor issues were also part of the discussion.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued communication. They emphasized joint consultations during the meeting. This serves the interests of the Filipino community in Libya. It supports stability and organizes migrant affairs. This must be done according to applicable laws. Humanitarian and social aspects must also be considered.

This visit strengthens friendship and cooperation between Libya and the Philippines. It enhances diplomatic communication bridges. This is between the official institutions of both countries. It serves common interests. It also boosts cooperation on humanitarian and international issues.
