Al-Qubbah – Dr. Fadwa Al-Faydi, head of the cosmetic surgery and cleft lip and palate repair program, honored the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, in recognition of his support and direct supervision of the humanitarian initiative for the treatment of cleft lip and palate deformities.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, Al-Faydi explained that the initiative included medical examinations for 245 cases from various Libyan cities and the performance of 65 successful surgeries, in addition to performing breast reconstruction surgeries for a number of breast cancer patients, a step implemented for the first time in Libya.
The initiative was carried out under the patronage of the Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belgasem Khalifa Haftar, and in cooperation with a specialized Italian medical team, as part of a unique medical event held for the second time in the country.
Al-Huraish Hospital in the city of Derna hosted the surgical operations, which were performed under the supervision of a group of elite Italian consultants in the fields of maxillofacial surgery, cosmetic surgery, and anesthesiology, with the participation of Libyan medical and nursing staff. This reflects the development of international medical cooperation and supports efforts to provide advanced treatment services within Libyan territory.
