Al-Bayda – The city of Al-Bayda witnessed today, Tuesday, the launch of the National Dialogue for the Development of the Health System, organized by the National Center for Health System Development with the participation of the Center’s departments and in collaboration with the university, as part of the national program to enhance communication between health institutions and Libyan universities.
The opening of the dialogue, held at the Faculty of Pharmacy auditorium at Omar Al-Mukhtar University, was attended by several members of the House of Representatives, leaders of Omar Al-Mukhtar University, deans of medical faculties, and the National Coordinator of Medical Faculties in Libyan Universities. Also present were experts, academics, representatives of health institutions, legislative bodies, and civil society organizations, in addition to postgraduate students and stakeholders in the health sector.
The Director of the National Center for Health System Development, Dr. Muftah Al-Twalib, told a LANA correspondent that the launch of the dialogue is part of a vision aimed at promoting a participatory approach in formulating health policies and involving universities and research centers as scientific institutions capable of producing knowledge and expertise, thereby contributing to the building of an effective, evidence-based health system.
He added that these dialogues are a continuation of a series of scientific meetings whose outcomes the Center is studying and developing in coordination with relevant authorities, with the goal of translating recommendations into practical steps to improve the performance of the health sector.
The event’s program included an extended session during which the National Center presented its vision, strategic programs, and proposed pathways for cooperation with universities, emphasizing the role of scientific research, training, and capacity building in supporting the health development process within Libya.
To enhance institutional partnership, a joint memorandum of understanding was signed between the university and the National Center for Health System Development in the meeting hall of Omar Al-Mukhtar University, attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Abdulmutallab Ahmed Bufarwa, and the Center’s Director-General, Dr. Muftah Al-Twalib.
The memorandum aims to support joint medical and academic programs, develop human capacities, and enhance the university’s role as a strategic partner in building an advanced health system that serves the community.
Participants stressed the importance of continuing to hold such dialogues in all Libyan cities, viewing them as a fundamental platform for unifying scientific and institutional efforts to achieve a health system capable of meeting citizens’ needs based on knowledge, innovation, and sound planning.
