Benghazi – Abdul Hadi Al-Huweij is the Libyan Government’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He met with Carlos Vieira, Guinea-Bissau’s Ambassador, on Friday evening. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between their countries.
The Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting. The Director-General of Guinea-Bissau’s Diplomatic Academy also attended. Participants reviewed existing cooperation. They explored mechanisms to develop this cooperation. This development aims to serve the common interests of both countries.
Al-Huweij emphasized the current phase’s demands. He said relations must advance towards broader effective partnership. This applies especially to diplomatic training. It also includes capacity building and experience exchange.
Both parties discussed speeding up procedures. These procedures concern opening a Guinea-Bissau Consulate General in Benghazi. This consulate will enhance consular presence. It will also stimulate economic cooperation. Commercial and cultural cooperation will also increase. It will facilitate services for citizens of both countries.
Guinea-Bissau’s Ambassador affirmed his country’s commitment. They aim to develop relations with Libya. They also seek to enhance coordination in regional forums. International forums are also a focus. This serves the issues of the African continent.
Both sides concluded the meeting. They affirmed the importance of regular consultations. They also emphasized joint work. This work will translate understandings into practical programs.
