Minister of Interior discusses developing child and family protection work at a forum in Benghazi

Benghazi – Libyan Government Interior Minister, Major General Issam Abu Zriba, held discussions. These took place during the first forum of the Child and Family Protection Office and Departments. The forum covered the Eastern and Southern regions. Discussions focused on the work of these departments. They also addressed challenges faced in security directorates. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benghazi. It was attended by officials from the office and heads of relevant departments.

Colonel Hana Bal Khair, head of the Child and Family Protection Office at the Ministry of Interior, stated this. She said the forum addressed major administrative and technical obstacles. These obstacles hinder the performance of child and family protection offices and departments. This is especially true in security directorates within the Eastern and Southern regions. She emphasized the importance of overcoming these impediments. This will provide better services to the targeted groups.

She added that the Minister stressed the need to develop work mechanisms. He also emphasized unifying procedures between the office and departments. This will enhance performance efficiency. It will also improve the quality of services provided. The meeting also affirmed the necessity of strengthening institutional coordination. This coordination should be between the office, departments, and relevant authorities. It also called for supporting departments with necessary resources and capabilities. This enables them to perform their vital role in protecting children and families. It also helps in establishing community security.

Bal Khair clarified that the Ministry is developing a unified vision. This vision aims to advance the work of child and family protection offices and departments. It also addresses existing issues. This aligns with current phase requirements. The focus is on developing performance. It also aims to improve service quality. Professional competency of staff members will be enhanced. This ensures departments can face various challenges. It also ensures protection for the most vulnerable groups in society.

She confirmed these steps are part of enhancing the Ministry’s humanitarian and social role. They support efforts to protect families and children. This ensures achieving community security and stability. It activates a preventative and awareness-raising role. This aims to confront negative phenomena. It also protects the rights of children and families. All actions comply with applicable national legislation.
