Kabul – Heavy rains caused severe floods and building collapses. These events killed 45 people. They injured 74 others in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The incidents occurred over the past five days. Authorities in both countries reported this on Monday. Kabul also warned of ongoing risks from severe weather.
Afghanistan’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority provided details. Most deaths were recorded in central and eastern provinces. These include Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Daikundi, and Logar. Heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides. This completely destroyed 130 homes.
The Authority added that conditions remain “unstable.” This is true in parts of the country. The statement was made on Monday. Further rain and floods are possible in some areas.
The Disaster Management Authority in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reported further details. This province borders Afghanistan. At least 17 people died there. Among the dead were 14 children. Another 25 people were injured. This was due to collapsing roofs and walls of houses. These collapses were caused by heavy rainfall.
