Benghazi – The Sovereign Positions Committee of the High Council of State has announced that an agreement has been reached with the House of Representatives on the final mechanism for selecting occupants of the state’s sovereign positions, in a significant step towards enhancing political stability and unifying state institutions.
The committee’s chairman and member of the High Council of State, Abdullah Jawan, said in an exclusive statement to the Libyan News Agency that the agreement covers seven key sovereign positions, including the Supreme Court, the Central Bank of Libya, the Attorney General, the Administrative Control Authority, the Audit Bureau, the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission, and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Jawan added that the agreement came after a series of intensive meetings and consultations between the committees of the High Council of State and the House of Representatives, stressing that this step represents significant progress towards achieving political stability and strengthening trust between institutions.
He indicated that the next phase will see the beginning of the implementation of the agreed-upon mechanism, which focuses on transparency, efficiency, and integrity in appointments, ensuring the selection of qualified individuals to serve the national interest.
Jawan affirmed the continued coordination and cooperation between the two councils to ensure the successful implementation of the agreement in a way that serves the supreme interest of the nation.
