Dozens of demonstrators took to the streets in Benghazi on Friday to protest against the postponement of the elections, which were originally scheduled for December 24.
A number of parliamentary candidates as well as political and civil society activists in Benghazi released a joint statement on Saturday, which they announced their rejection of any postponement to the presidential elections on December 24.
UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, said she discussed Saturday with the Mayor of Benghazi Saqr Boujouaro and members of the city’s municipal council about issues that concern the city, especially the reconstruction of the city, irregular migration, and the need for decentralization.
