The United Nations has set May 15 as the date for the second round of talks between members of Libya’s House of Representatives and High Council of States to discuss forming constitutional basis for the long-delayed elections.
This was announced on Friday by U.N. Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, following her Thursday night meeting the chairman of HCS, Khaled Al-Mishri.
“Last night in Tripoli I met with Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Mr. Khaled el Mishri, briefing him on my visits to various European capitals last week to discuss current events in Libya,” she said via Twitter.
“During our conversation, Mr. Mishri reaffirmed the High Council of State’s commitment to partaking in the second round of meetings of the Joint HoR/HCS committee in Cairo on 15 May,” added the U.N. diplomat.
