The Secretary-General of the United Nations has affirmed “his personal interest and commitment” to end the crisis in Libya, said Taher El-Sonni, the country’s Ambassador to the UN.
The two leaders of Libya’s eastern and western military forces discussed the unification of the country’s army during a bilateral meeting in Sirte today, said a representative for the Libyan National Army (LNA).
The Libyan presidential elections, originally set for December 24 last year, were postponed due to “conflicting candidacies”, revealed Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya.
General Abdel-Razek Al-Nadori, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), and General Mohammed Al-Hadad, the leader of military forces in west of Libya, met for the second time in Sirte today to discuss unification of the country’s military institution as well as removal of foreign forces, Al-Enwan newspaper reported.
Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR), Suleiman al-Harari, expressed his deep concern over the escalation of hate campaigns and political incitement, especially against HoR and its members.
