Libya. A report published by the London-based newspaper Al-Arab Al-Usbu’i highlighted efforts by Libyan leaders. They are working towards a national dialogue. This dialogue aims to break the country’s ongoing political stalemate.

The report covered a meeting. It included Presidential Council head Mohamed Al-Menfi and Council member Musa Al-Koni. Members from the House of Representatives and the High Council of State also participated. The meeting focused on reviewing the latest political and economic developments. Libya continues to grapple with institutional paralysis.

The report clarified this situation imposes increasing pressure. It impacts the governance system, public services, and economic stability. The attendees discussed proposals. These proposals aim to launch a serious national dialogue. This dialogue would break the long-standing political stalemate in the country.

The report indicated these moves are part of renewed efforts. They aim to reconcile views among competing institutions. They also seek to establish foundations for a comprehensive political settlement. This settlement would unify state institutions. It would also pave the way for long-awaited presidential and parliamentary elections.

The report added that attendees also discussed major obstacles. These hinder progress in the political process. Foremost among these is the lack of agreement on a constitutional basis. Disagreement also exists on electoral laws. Ongoing institutional fragmentation is another challenge. This reality directly impacted the economy and the quality of services provided to citizens. It increased public frustration. The country is still struggling for stability. This struggle follows over a decade since the conflict began.

The report continued that participants emphasized the need to prioritize national interests. They stressed strengthening cooperation between institutions. This would help overcome the current impasse. They also called for supporting all initiatives. These initiatives aim to restore political and economic stability.

The report concluded by noting recurring delays. Disagreements over the constitutional framework also persist. These continue to impede the political process. This places the country at a critical crossroads. This occurs amid increasing calls for dialogue and settlement.
