Libya’s House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to withdraw confidence from the government of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh during a closed-door session in Tobruk, the House spokesman Abdullah Blehaq announced in a brief statement.
Libya needs to “move forward with the electoral framework to allow for Presidential and Parliamentary elections on December 24,” said Victoria Nuland, the U.S. Under Secretary of State, following a meeting with Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush in New York yesterday.
The Government of National Unity is likely to face a cabinet reshuffle or turn into caretaker government until legal and financial regulations are set in place ahead of the elections on December 24, said Asmahan Al-Oun, a member of parliament, on Monday.
