Mesbah Doma Ouhaida, a member of Libya’s House of Representatives, has accused unnamed foreign countries of “maneuvers” to “thwart the Libyan consensus”.
In a statement via Twitter, Ouhaida claimed that such foreign countries are attempting to “re-manage the Libyan crisis” after the House named Fathi Bashagha as Libya’s new prime minister “without any foreign interference”.
The lawmaker’s remarks came in the wake of a joint statement by France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States who reiterated on Friday their support for UN mediation efforts to sustain to facilitate dialogue between Libyan parties in order to hold presidential and parliamentary elections “as soon as possible”.
