Turkish Ambassador to Libya Kenan Yilmaz said Saturday his country’s presence in Libya was based on the memorandum of understanding signed with the former Government of National Accord (GNA), to provide consultations and training, and the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) is “authorized” to adopt the agreement.
“The memorandum of understanding is not limited to one group. We see Libya as one united country, and if there is a need, we will expand our forces and training in Libya,” Yilmaz said in a press conference in Benghazi.
“We are ready to do everything in our power to achieve development and prosperity in Libya, because Libya has a special place in our hearts, and we are happy to be in the distinguished city of Benghazi,” he added.
“We met with Libyan businessmen, and we discussed the issue of resuming previous projects, and taking on new projects in the coming period, as the atmosphere is positive, and we will strengthen relations through our intensive visit.” the Ambassador pointed out.
Yilmaz expressed his desire to open a general consulate for his country in the city of Benghazi, “if conditions are ripe”, as well as inviting a technical team from Turkish Airlines to inspect Benina Airport, and if all goes well, flights will be resumed between Benghazi and Turkey.
