War crimes and crimes against humanity including murder, torture, enslavement, extrajudicial killings and rape have been committed in Libya since 2016, a United Nations investigation has found.
Former Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha met with Italian ambassador to Libya Giuseppe Buccino in Tripoli where they “discussed the current political situation and the efforts of the international community to ensure the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections on time in accordance with the roadmap,” according to Bashagha.
Libya’s House of Representatives announced on Tuesday that it finalized the legislations, which would serve as legal framework for the elections on December 24.
The 5+5 Joint Military Committee has reached an agreement on the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya, Faitori Greipil, a member of the committee, said yesterday.
The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, affirmed his government’s full support for the oil sector as it is an important and vital sector and that it represents more than 95% of the revenues of the Libyan state.
