Libya’s House of Representatives of Libya has formed a committee to develop the restructuring of the general state budget.
The committee, led by Omar Tantoush, envisages the participation of 11 other members to develop a “vision” aimed at ensuring that “all members of the Libyan people enjoy the resources of their country” and “a effective and transparent control of revenues from their various sources and expenditure in their various aspects”.
The decision sees the committee propose phasing out subsidies on gasoline and fuel, reducing waste of state revenue.
The committee also has the task of proposing a spending mechanism for the projects contracted and currently being implemented by the two governments (that of Tripoli, recognized by the UN, and the one recognized by the parliament in Benghazi), including them in the annexes to the proposal budget for approval by the House of Representatives.
